Belton Information

Belton was originally founded in 1850 as the county seat for Bell County. The courthouse that stands in the town today was built in 1886. The Baylor Female College, later renamed the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, was chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas. In the 1870s Belton was one of the cattle rest stops when they were herded up North on the Chisholm Trail. And it is also home to the "Oldest Department Store in Texas" Cochran Blair & Potts. Nearby Lake Belton provides water recreation and close by is the Nolan Creek Hike and Bike trail. Belton is next door to Temple and only 20 minutes away from Fort Hood by State 190 or by some beautiful country roads. If you are looking for a nice home or investment property Belton is the place to check out. It has real estate for most every budget including waterfront or country living close to the city. Single family homes, residential property or even vacant land offer plenty of opportunities to relocate to a historic old town with great schools and lots of leisure living.
